Whether enabling life-saving healthcare treatments, supporting the production of semiconductors used in smartphones and computers, or helping industries decarbonize their operations, LGUS plays an important role in making modern life possible. 

In simple terms: LGUS supplies the essential gases and technologies that help hospitals heal patients, manufacturers build products, food producers feed communities and industries operate more sustainably. While many people may never see these gases, they are everywhere, helping power the world around us.

The LTOP program is a 12-month program designed to cultivate strong operations leadership within Linde’s Bulk and Onsite Gases business (LGUS).  This program provides broad exposure to all aspects of air separation plant (ASU) operations, including technical and operational cross-training.

HyTOP is an 18-month rotational program designed to build specialists in Linde’s Hydrogen (HyCo) business.  This program focuses heavily on hydrogen production technology and is intended for engineering graduates who are interested in specializing in this area of business.

Both programs give you an in-depth look at general plant operations.  In these programs you will interface with teams such as:

• Process Engineering
• Project Engineering
• Process Controls
• Maintenance & Reliability
• Process Safety
• Operations       

Upon successful completion, most LTOP participants transition into a full-time plant engineering role, and HyTOPs into Process Engineers, equipped with the knowledge, network, and experience to thrive at Linde.   

LTOP Program Outline

HyTOP

The HyTOP Program has 2-3 mentor-led rotations.  This includes:

• 6-month operations & business introduction in The Woodlands, TX (Houston Metro Area).
• 12-month plant engineering assignment for hands-on experience learning all day-to-day plant operations.

Comprehensive 12-Month or 18-month Program

Both programs combine hands-on plant operations with formal leadership and technical training through a structured curriculum. 

Immersive Learning Experiences

Participants travel to multiple sites, gaining exposure to diverse plant types and regional operations.

Dedicated Mentorship and Support

Each participant has a sponsor mentor providing guidance, coaching, feedback, and advocacy throughout the program.

Career-Ready Graduates

Graduates emerge ready for full-time plant or process engineer roles with strong technical skills and leadership potential.

HyTOP is Ideal for engineers who want to specialize in hydrogen technology and focus on building a career in process and plant engineering or reliability.  Candidates must have:

• BS or MS in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• 0-3 years' experience (including any relevant internship experience)
• Must be willing to relocate for rotations and travel up to 25% to multiple US cities

LTOP is Ideal for engineers who want to develop a career into operations leadership roles (Plant Leadership, Operations Management).  Candidate must have:

• BS in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; Engineering Technology
• 0-3 years of experience (including any relevant internship experience
• Must be willing to travel up to 25% to multiple US cities

Apply:  Applications open in September. Applications must be completed and submitted for consideration.

Selection: Applications are reviewed holistically beginning in the fall. Interviews are conducted throughout the fall and spring semesters.

Kickoff:  The program starts in July. Full onboarding & next steps are shared with candidates who have accepted the offer into the program at that time.
